Dr Harry Little Preschool (DHLP) was established in 1973 and today is run by a committee of volunteer parents of currently enrolled children from both the Pre-kinder and Preschool groups, assisted by the Educational Leader, Miss Natalie Hobson, and Nominated Supervisor, Mrs Angela Dance.  DHLP is one of four preschools within the City of Greater Bendigo (CoGB) that are not owned by the CoGB and operated by Shine Bright (formerly the Loddon Mallee Preschool Association LMPA), and therefore, it is responsible for managing its own learning program, staffing, development, facilities and maintenance projects. 

The DHLP constitution requires the formation of a Committee of Management to enable its continued operation. The Committee meets once a month and holds 11 meetings over the course of the year.

We encourage you to become involved with your Preschool. If you cannot commit to a year-long Committee position, please consider the Fair Committee, as this commitment is usually only for a few months in the lead up to and running of the Annual Fair. We are seeking contributors with new innovative and refreshing ideas to ensure that our fair continues to attract members of the community to participate and enjoy the day.

Even if you do not hold a position on the Committee, we welcome and encourage any interested parents to attend Committee meetings if possible.

2020 Committee 

President – John Sandiford  — president@drharrylittlepreschool.org.au

John Sandiford is Bendigo born and bred; he specialises in IT Security and has been a part of the committee since 2018. John has a Master of Information Systems Security and a Bachelor of Computing. His role has seen him travel the world and supporting Enterprise with their security challenges. John hopes to be able to apply his strengths to make DHLP as strong as it can be.

Staff Liaison – Chantelle Van Cooten

Chantelle Van Cooten began her journey with DHLP in 2020 as Staff Liaison, which a step away from her qualification of Ba. Physiotherapy. A Boort born and long term employee of the Physiotherapy Centre Bendigo, Chantelle enjoys networking, problem solving, and collaborating with different members of the community on a regular basis. She has found great joy in being able to offer her assistance hopefully as a reliable and approachable link between the committee and staff.

Treasurer – Nicki Waters

Nicki Waters is Bendigo born and bred with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and a Qualified Chartered Accountant. Nicki started her career with Strategem Financial Group, Bendigo Bank and has found her accountancy hone with Bendigo Health. With a small year away in WA in between Nicki returned to her home town with her young family and is a valued member of our committee for 2020. 

Secretary – Sarah McMillan

Sarah was born and bred in Bendigo and moved to Melbourne to study Ba. Physiotherapy. I returned home 17 years later with a husband and 3 little boys. Our fourth boy arrived last year! Sarah has been on the Preschool Committee in the role of Secretary for the past 3 years and have really enjoyed contributing to the running of this fantastic preschool.

Alise Amarant comes to us with a wealth of knowledge from her Ba. Science and Ba. Education from La Trobe University. Currently the Director of Props Theatre, Alise has honed her Marketing skills through working with some of Bendigo’s best to the benefit of her own company and now to DHLP. This is Alise’s first year with us and hopes to create a warm online voice for DHLP to communicate to parents and the wider Bendigo community.
